Residential Energy Audits:
- Survey - A visual inspection of the home's thermal envelope, appliances,
lighting and a review of your utility usage/history as well as general
recommendations for improvements. (Time - 2 hours, cost - $85)
- Diagnostic - Includes all of the provisions in the survey with the addition
of diagnostic testing (Blower Door, combustion gas appliance safety testing, duct leakage (as required) and thermal
imaging*). This type of audit is used to identify specific ways to reduce your
energy bill and improve the energy efficiency of your home. (Time 3-4 hours, cost
$275)
- Comprehensive Audit- Includes all of the above and computer modeling of your
home, a proposed scope of work, calculation of energy savings after work,
guidance to a certified contractor and follow up quality assurance testing after
work is complete. (Time 6-8 hours, cost $425)
* Thermal imaging requires a 20 deg delta between the inside and outside temperatures

- Your home can be rated according to the Mortgage Industry National Home
Energy Rating System (HERS) Standard. A HERS rating can be used to obtain a
lower interest mortgage loan, a lower interest home improvement loan and or to
apply for a tax credit based on the energy efficiency of a new home. (Time 8 -
12 hours, cost $475).
